Grade 3

In third grade, the children learn about American history through text, literature, art, discussion, and unforgettable experiences such as the Pioneer Room. Building on all that students have learned in the early grades, third grade teachers weave lessons into thematic units. Third graders begin to delve into the research process more thoroughly through their work on animal reports. They also begin focusing on building their organizational skills by maintaining their own supplies and desks.

Studies include: The Ice Age and migration of people to the Americas, Native American Culture, Columbus and the European Explorers, Jamestown and Plymouth, Colonial Life, Lewis and Clark, and Pioneer Families.
