IMPORTANT NOTE for Out-of-State Applicants:
Out-of-State applicants are required to pass the Test of Academic Proficiency - TAP (400) test AND a content area (e.g. Elementary/Middle Grades or other content area) test before a provisional license will be issued. Special education teachers will also need to pass the special education general curriculum test. It is important to recognize that test dates are not offered over the summer months. To ensure timely licensing and eligibility for employment, please plan ahead. The process to transfer out of state test scores can be a very long process and may even delay issuance of a license (and eligibility for a position). Please refer to the ISBE Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS) as well as the Illinois Licensure Testing System website for test dates and registration.
